Spring Thermals and our feathered friends!!!

12-04-2015

Saturday at Woolacombe brought fresh on-shore winds for Tandem Flying. Sally and Mike had to be quite patient as we waited for the gusts to drop off. By 3pm though, Sally took to the skies, climbing to a 1000 feet above the beach and following the birds into the strong spring thermals.

Mike was next, 4th time lucky visiting the hill waiting for the right conditions! However, he was rewarded with a fantastic half hour flight, catching some strong lift up to 2 metre's per second at times. To top the day off we saw a kestrel climbing towards Putsborough so we parked ourselves underneath him. We immediately climbed to 300 feet above the hill before swooping into the back field and landing safely on the wheels.
Great days flying - thank you both for your patience. Next week we are keeping an eye on Wednesday for flying at Woolacombe
