Happy Days! Conditions are good to go for tandem hang gliding!

11-02-2017

Well we have had a relatively dry winter and the conditions on the hill are good for us to start Tandem Hang Gliding in Devon this February. The stunning coastline and Woolacombe Bay in North Devon is a fantastic spot to fly like a bird - if you have a voucher and you haven't yet given us any dates please get in touch as we book up quickly.

As a reminder we are looking for west to north westerly winds ranging between 15 and 24 miles per hour. There may be a window at the end of the week Thursday or Friday if the forecast holds - so get in touch if you are available during the half-term break.

Happy New Year 2017! Weather update on flying dates

09-01-2017

With 2017 upon us we are watching the weather and the condition of the ground to decide when to start the Tandem Air Experience's at Woolacombe.

We are tentatively looking to recommence from the 20th February onwards. If you already have a voucher then please email us your dates when you are available to fly ([email protected]) . Once again a minimum of 6 different dates to take advantage of the weather would be ideal. We get booked up quickly so make sure you are in touch. We are not available for tandem flying between the 10th and the 22nd March 2017. For more information go to: http://flylikeabird.co.uk/about-us/pre-flight-information.php

Tandem Hang Gliding on BBC2 Coastal Path Friday 18th November 8.30pm

16-11-2016

A 5-part series about the South West Coast Path is to be broadcast nationwide from Friday 18th November, with a primetime slot on BBC2 at 8.30pm.

In this new series titled ‘Coastal Path’, explorer Paul Rose tells the story of the South West Coast Path, which at 630 miles, is England's Longest National Trail and one of the world's best loved walks. It’s also considered to be one of the biggest challenges yet for Paul Rose whose adventures have taken him all over the world.

As he makes his way from Minehead in the first episode, all the way to Poole harbour at the end of his journey, Paul will be learning all about the path's history, industry, wildlife and traditions as well as meeting the people who live and work along the way including David Kennard, a National Trust tenant farmer in North Devon.

He'll also be trying out at least one adrenaline fuelled activity every episode, from hang gliding to coasteering and discovering that the South West Coast Path, which carves a route where land and sea collide - really is the walk of a lifetime.

Closed 28th October to 8th November - Tandem's yesterday at Woolacombe

27-10-2016

We are closed from Friday 28th October through to Tuesday 8th November. We did, however, manage to get a small window for flying the Tandem Hang Glider at Woolacombe yesterday:

Outside of that we have not had many days in North Devon for on-shore westerly winds. The picture below is on the North Cornwall coast earlier this month.

We still have some available dates in November for flying. If you have a voucher or you are looking for a unique experience for someone then get in touch. For more tandem photo's and to find out what we have been doing in the air see our page here: https://www.facebook.com/2Flylikeabird

No flying this week due to the weather - High pressure over North Sea

04-10-2016

We have a High Pressure that is dominating the UK weather for the next 5 to 7 days. This means a fresh easterly airflow across the country, unfortunately the wrong wind direction for Tandem Hang Gliding in North Devon. We will keep you updated on any changes in the long range forecast.
